the fine print, in plain words

Privacy policy

Last updated: July 17, 2026

Kaylee's Dog Walking Service is a small neighbourhood business in McKenzie Towne, Calgary. This page explains exactly what information the site collects, why, and what happens to it, in plain language, because that's how it should be.

What we collect

  • Booking details: your name, phone number, street address, email (optional), your dog's name, size, and birthday (optional), plus any notes you add and the date and time of your walks.
  • Account details (if you create an account): your email and a password. The password is never stored as-is, only a one-way cryptographic hash of it.
  • Dog profiles (if you add them): breed, age, photo, behaviour notes, vet contact, and allergies.
  • Waiver agreement: the date and time you agreed to the terms, attached to your booking.

That's it. There are no analytics trackers, no ad pixels, and no third-party marketing tools on this site.

Why we collect it

  • To schedule and carry out walks: the address is how Kaylee finds your door, and the street is how neighbour group discounts get matched.
  • To contact you about your bookings (confirmations, reminders, schedule changes).
  • To keep your walk history and referral credits straight.
  • Dog details (behaviour, allergies, vet contact) exist purely to keep your dog safe on walks.

Photos of your dog

Kaylee texts you a photo after every walk. Photos are only used for the business's marketing (like the site gallery) if you gave consent at booking, and you can opt out with one checkbox. Unchecking it means your dog's photos stay between you and Kaylee.

Who sees your information

Kaylee. That's the list. Your information is never sold, rented, or shared with marketers. Two narrow exceptions, both optional and only if turned on:

  • Google sign-in: if you log in with Google, Google tells us your name and email. We never see your Google password.
  • Google Calendar: if Kaylee connects her calendar, your walk's details (dog, owner, phone, address, time) appear as events on her own private calendar so she's never late.

Cookies

One cookie, and only if you log in: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It's HttpOnly (scripts can't read it) and expires after 30 days or when you log out. No tracking cookies, ever.

How it's protected

  • Passwords hashed with scrypt (a modern, deliberately slow algorithm designed for password storage).
  • Login sessions stored server-side as hashes, delivered over secure cookies.
  • Kaylee's dashboard, where client details live, is passcode-protected and rate-limited against guessing.
  • The site enforces a strict Content-Security-Policy and other security headers, and every form input is validated and length-limited on the server.

Your choices

  • See or correct your info: log in to your account, or just text Kaylee.
  • Pause: going away? Pause your account from your account page. Everything is kept, nothing is shared, you just show as away.
  • Delete: want your info gone? Text Kaylee at 587-433-2199 and she'll remove your profile and history.
  • Photo opt-out: uncheck the photo consent box at booking, any time.

How long we keep it

Booking history is kept so returning clients don't start from scratch and referral credits stay honest. If you ask for deletion, it's removed, full stop.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the "last updated" date above changes with it, and anything new will be explained here in the same plain language.
